Job Description

Rate: $20/hr on 1099

We are looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to provide technical assistance to end-users. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting hardware and software issues, setting up new systems, and ensuring optimal IT performance for employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for desktop, laptop, and mobile devices (Windows, macOS, basic mobile support).
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot software and hardware.
  • Support peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, and network equipment.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues via phone, email, remote tools, or in person.
  • Manage user accounts and permissions (Active Directory knowledge preferred).
  • Setup and maintain user workstations and IT equipment.
  • Support Microsoft Office 365, email configurations, and standard business applications.
  • Maintain an inventory of IT assets and ensure timely updates.
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware repairs or replacements.
  • Document technical issues, solutions, and user guides.
  • Ensure security best practices are followed across all user devices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in desktop support, IT helpdesk, or technical support roles.
  • Good knowledge of Windows OS (Windows 10/11), basic knowledge of macOS.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Office 365, VPN, and remote desktop tools.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • IT certifications like CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or similar are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with ticketing tools (ServiceNow, JIRA, etc.).
  • Exposure to ITIL processes.
  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity best practices.
